Heart & Soul Choir

Special Needs Choir

Heart & Soul Choir in its 4th season with the Decatur Park District. The choir provides a place where people with special needs are able to express themselves through the musical art of singing. Heart & Soul is an apt name for the group because they sing with all their Heart. They involve themselves totally in the activity. When music is expressed in an honest and genuine manner it speaks to the soul. Heart and Soul has performed at Trees on the Tees, PURPLE UP DAY and as special guests at the Greater Decatur Chorale’s concerts in the past. Caregivers are required to attend rehearsals and participants must be 18 years of age or older and able to be engaged in a 60–90-minute rehearsal.

Heart & Soul In Motion

Dance can be a unique and effective way to interact with students with special needs because it is nonverbal. Through simple patterns, sequencing, and repetition, students will learn the basics of movement, rhythm, and jazz dance. This class is meant to offer socialization, skill building, and recreation to participants who may not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in a dance class all while having fun and making some new friends. Students will have the opportunity to learn tap and jazz. Participants will perform in our spring dance recital. Call 217-421-6648 to register.
