2025 Early Registration

Play ball! Save $20 During early registration period for Decatur Youth Baseball/Softball League from Jan. 1 – Jan. 31. Registration ends March 16th, 2025. Please
note: T-Ball players must be age 3 by August 31, 2024 to register. Registrations received on or after March 1st will incur an additional late fee of $25.

Important Note
Register anytime at the DISC, or online (decatur-parks.org). For on-site registrations, parent or guardian must accompany youth, and a birth certificate copy is required for first-year players.


Cancellation Notifications
To receive Decatur Youth Baseball & Softball cancellation/closure information by text or email, visit decatur-parks.org and click on Cancellations and Closures to register. You can also get the Rainout Line app (free in the App Store!) and select Decatur Park District as your favorite.

Practice Information

They will be taught the mechanics of the game, how to play defense and offense, practice throwing, catching, base running, batting, hitting and how to play each position. This program will be taught by local high school and college coaches. They will rotate on 3 fields. Spending approximately 20 minutes at each field.


Red Bird Rookies

Thanks to a partnership between the Decatur Park District, Decatur Memorial Hospital, and Cardinals Care ball players aged 5 – 13 can enjoy this free introductory program, which instills the values of teamwork, integrity, self-esteem, and leadership. Registration begins in February on February on www.redbirdrookies.org.


Spring Training at the DISC

Dates: sundays, March 2, 16, 23 & 30

Get ready for the season! Players are divided by age and skill level at the DISC to improve their skills in fielding, hitting, base-running, and pitching. Please wear gym shoes and athletic clothing. Bring your glove, bat, and batting helmet.

Lessons

Spring Training at the DISC

Batters will learn various hitting techniques, improve hand-eye coordination, and adjust to different pitches at the plate. For pitchers, drills, ball movement and placement, and basic pitch selection will be covered. Rach lesson is 30 minutes, Call Coach Kevin Jannusch at 512-784-5761. Fee: $30 per half hour

Baseball Hitting & Pitching Lesson

Coach Jim Stewart works with athletes one-on-one at the DISC, offering insights on hitting and pitching philosophies and technique. Call 217-972-1923 to reserve your time! Fee: $30 per half hour

Batting/Throwing Cage

The DISC’s cages feature portable pitching mounds, as well as a time-operated machine with 4-speeds for baseball and softball. Call 217-429-3472 to reserve a cage for your individual or team practice.
