Meet The Mountain Lions
Mountain Lion Exhibit Ribbon Cutting April 28 at 11 a.m.!
Meet Russet and Yukon
Russet and Yukon are the beloved siblings who are the stars of the exhibit. They were both found as orphaned cubs in Idaho in 2017. They spent many years at Elmwood Park Zoo, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before making their way to the St. Louis Zoo.
The Potato Connection
To honor their Idahoan origins, the mountain lions are named after potatoes, with Russet being the boy and Yukon being the girl. It’s a unique and fun twist to their names that adds a touch of personality to their story.
Care and Well-being
Russet and Yukon, now around 8 years old, have been exceptionally well cared for throughout their lives. They have received top-notch care, attention, and love to ensure they thrive in their new environment.
Educational Value
Visitors to the exhibit will have the opportunity to learn more about mountain lions, their habits, conservation efforts, and the importance of protecting these beautiful creatures in the wild.
